Can you help with the log book when the car’s collected?

Yes, that’s no problem. There’s only a small part of the log book that needs to be completed – section 9 – the yellow section on the third page. On the day the car’s recovered, you should fill out the transfer date – as well as the name and address of the company collecting your vehicle. Don’t worry if you’re not totally sure about how to complete the form though; our partner collection driver will be happy to help.

How do I get a SORN?
Description
To declare your car as being kept off the road, you’ll need to make a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN). To do so, you should contact the DVLA, either through their dedicated internet service or through the post. It’s worth noting that the postal service can take significantly longer than making a SORN online.

How will you decide on a value for my car?
Description
The value of your car will generally be based on the weight of the vehicle – along with the value of any parts that can be removed for recycling purposes. We’ll always seek quotes from specialists who are looking for your specific make and model though – to maximise the amount we can offer.

Does it matter if I’m not with the car when it’s recovered?
Description
Don’t worry if you can’t be with the car when it’s recovered – as long as you can nominate someone else, that’s fine. You’ll need to make sure your nominated person can provide our driver with a proof of ID (driving licence or passport ideally). You’ll also need to make sure they can show a proof of their address too – if you won’t be providing the V5C with the car.

Can you explain what an ATF is?
Description
An ‘ATF’ is an ‘Authorised Treatment Facility’ – the name given to a scrap yard or dismantler who has proved they meet with the regulations around the handling of scrap materials. Only ATFs can deal with end of life vehicles – so we make sure each of our partners carries this important accreditation.
